Celebration of the 100th anniversary of World Savings Day
Traditionally, the Macedonian Banking Association, in cooperation with the Deposit Insurance Fund, organized an event on the occasion of World Savings Day – October 31.
The event started with a presentation of the European project MiCreS, by Ms. Fatma Dirkes, Vice-President of the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and President of the European Banking & Financial Services Training Association (EBTN) and Ms. Katia Goertz, Project Director.
The president of the MBA, Ph.D. Maja Stevkova-Shterieva, opened the ceremonial part with an address in which she emphasized the importance of savings and the commitments of the banking sector and the association for financial education.
Ms. Fatma Dirkes, the Minister of Finance M.Sc. Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, the Deputy Governor of the National Bank, M.Sc. Emilija Nacevska, and the director of the Deposit Insurance Fund, Mr. Behar Emini, also addressed the attendees.
During the celebration, awards were given to the most outstanding bank employees of this year – a total of 31 best employees from the members of the Macedonian Banking Association, including banks, saving houses, KIBS Clearing House and the Macedonian Credit Bureau. Also, a special recognition was given to Mr. Toni Stojanovski, as a sign of respect for his dedication and significant contribution as vice-president of the Macedonian Banking Association from 2018 to 2024.
World Savings Day, which was established at the first international congress of savings banks in Milan on October 31, 1924, has been celebrated in our country since 1999, with an emphasis on the importance of savings and financial literacy.
