“Green Financial Instrument for Improving Air Quality and Combating Climate Change in the Republic of North Macedonia” organized by the MBA Education Department and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
On November 21, 2024, at the premises of the Macedonian Banking Association, and organized by the Education Unit at the MBA and the United Nations Development Program – UNDP, a presentation of the Program “Green Financial Instrument for Improving Air Quality and Combating Climate Change in the Republic of North Macedonia” was held.
The program team spoke about this transformative program that offers green financing and technical assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises and underserved citizens, which achieve environmental, energy and economic benefits – reduced greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy costs, better air quality, etc. There was also a discussion about the gender aspects related to the Program and in the financial sector, as well as about the Technology Selector tool intended for selecting renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions (photovoltaics, solar collectors, heat pumps, inverters, insulation, cooling devices, etc.). Underserved citizens include female heads of households, single parents, Roma people, households with people with disabilities, employees affected by Covid-19, recipients of remittances and returnees from abroad.
The “Green Finance Instrument for Improving Air Quality and Combating Climate Change in the Republic of North Macedonia” program is funded by the United Nations Joint SDG Fund, the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and local financial institutions. The program is implemented by UNDP in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the EBRD.
