Commission for documentary operations

In the direction of promotion and presentation of the Macedonian Banking Association (MBA) to the public, in the following months, we will present the commissions that function as permanent working bodies within the MBA and their leaders.

COMMISSION FOR DOCUMENTARY OPERATIONS

The Chairperson of the Commission for documentary operations is Mr. Andrej Eftimov, Head of the Trade Finance Department from the Corporate Sales Support Division at NLB BANK AD Skopje, and the Deputy Chairperson is Mr. Sasho Donchevski, MSc, responsible for documentary business in PROKREDIT BANK AD Skopje.

To achieve the common interests of MBA members, this Commission is acting on issues related to letters of credit, bank guarantees, collection, and other forms of trade financing.

Through it, the representatives of the members:

• Initiate analysis of various topics from the mentioned trade finance instruments and give their own experts’ opinions, advice, information, and recommendations on them.
• Align their views and conclusions on issues for financing the trade.
• Follow jointly the laws, legal regulations and other acts concerning the activities of this Commission, and if necessary, initiate interpretation by the regulator.
• Form working groups that are coordinating on issues of common interest for the members of the Commission.
• Organize operative meetings and discussions with representatives of domestic and international associations and organizations in terms of trade finance.
• Realize expert discussions, presentations, workshops, lectures, seminars, and other forms of consulting sessions for MBA members and other interested subjects.

The Chairperson of the Commission for documentary operations since January 2023 is Mr. Andrej Eftimov, Head of the Trade Finance Department from the Corporate Sales Support Division at NLB Bank AD Skopje.

Since his first work engagement in banking circles in 1995, he has been constantly involved in the field of trade finance. He was an active member of the previous Trade Finance Commission, which operated within the Banking Association of the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce. And after the establishment of MBA, he was agile in this institution as well, for which in 2019 he received a Gratitude for a special contribution.

Deputy Chairperson of the Commission for documentary operations is Mr. Sasho Donchevski, MSc, responsible for documentary business in ProCredit Bank AD Skopje. Sasho Doncevski has master in management, and he is former chairman of the previous Trade Finance Commission, which operated within the Banking Association of the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce.

Since January 2023, he has been actively engaged in the MBA Trade Finance Commission. In the sphere of trade finance, he has been involved since 2005. Ever since the begging of the carrier he actively takes part in various workshops, seminars, and trainings for improvement of the knowledge for documentary business organized by EBRD, SWIFT, Institute for business research – Serbia, ProCredit Academy, ProCredit Bank AG Frankfurt, ProCredit Bank AD Skopje in the country and abroad. In the frames of ProCredit bank and ProCredit group he takes part in staff training for documentary business, as well as in continuous development and increasing of the efficiency of the processes and their digitalization.
