Commission for accounting, taxes and international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
In the direction of promoting and presenting the Macedonian Banking Association (MBA) to the public, in the following months, we will present the commissions that function as permanent working bodies within the MBA and their leaders.
COMMISSION FOR ACCOUNTING, TAXES, AND IFRS
The Chairperson of the Commission for Accounting, Taxes, and IFRS is Ms. Donka Markovska, Manager of the Financial Management Sector at NLB BANK AD Skopje, and the Deputy Chairperson is Viki Rusevska Trtkovikj Ph.D., Division Manager for Budgeting and Financial Reporting at STOPANSKA BANKA AD Skopje.
The Commission for Accounting, Taxes, and IFRS is a permanent working body operating within the framework of the Macedonian Banking Association since its establishment. Its goal is to take actions and activities towards the efficient realization, improvement, and protection of the interests of the members of the Macedonian Banking Association in the field of accounting, taxes, and IFRS.
Permanent members of the commission include all banks and savings houses, the Clearing House, and the Macedonian Credit Bureau. Starting from 2023, the Commission also collaborate with KB Prvo Penzisko Drustvo AD Skopje on topics of common interest.
The main functions of the Commission for Accounting, Taxes, and IFRS are to strengthen the entire banking and financial system through:
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory provisions related to accounting and tax issues and ensuring their proper implementation in accordance with the interests of the members,
- Examining and analyzing accounting and tax aspects and issues related to the operations of the members, providing professional opinions, advice, information, recommendations, and drawing conclusions,
- Harmonizing the members’ opinions on accounting and tax issues in the scope of their operations and participating in shaping public opinion on these matters,
- Advocating the interests of the members through communication and collaboration with all relevant authorities and institutions responsible for preparing and proposing regulatory acts in the field of accounting and tax regulations, as well as initiating requests for their drafting, amendment, and supplementation in line with the needs and interests of the members,
- Monitoring and studying the practice of administrative and other bodies related to the proper and uniform implementation of regulatory acts in the field of accounting and taxes by the members and aligning the positions and opinions through communication with the competent authorities and chambers,
- Organizing professional discussions on accounting and tax issues.
Ms. Donka Markovska, Manager of the Financial Management Sector at NLB BANK AD Skopje, serves as the Chairperson of the Commission for Accounting, Taxes, and IFRS. With her extensive managerial experience in the banking sector, she actively participated in the work of the banking association under the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia and later within the Macedonian Banking Association.
The position of Deputy Chairperson of the Commission is held by Ms. Viki Rusevska Trtkovik Ph.D. Division Manager for Budgeting and Financial Reporting at STOPANSKA BANKA AD Skopje and an Authorized Accountant. With over 20 years of experience in banking, she has participated in various development projects for the implementation of regulations in the field of accounting and the preparation of financial reports.
