Celebration of World Savings Day – October 31
In the spirit of a long-standing tradition, the Macedonian Banking Association (MBA), in cooperation with the Deposit Insurance Fund, organized a formal event to celebrate World Savings Day – October 31.
The ceremony was opened by the president of the MBA, Ph.D. Maja Stevkova-Sterieva, who emphasized the importance of savings as the cornerstone of financial stability. She also highlighted the ongoing commitment of the banking sector and the Association to advancing financial education and literacy among citizens.
The attendees were also addressed by M.Sc. Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, Minister of Finance of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia; Ph.D. Trajko Slaveski, Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia, and Ph.D. Kralja Cheshmadziska, representative of the Deposit Insurance Fund, who spoke on behalf of the Fund’s Director, Mr. Behar Emini. In their remarks, the speakers underscored the significance of savings, the importance of public trust in the financial system, and the vital role of institutions in fostering financial stability and security for citizens.




As part of the ceremony, awards were presented to the best banking employees for 2025 – recognizing a total of 31 outstanding professionals from the member institutions of the Macedonian Banking Association, including banks, savings houses, the Clearing House KIBS, and the Macedonian Credit Bureau.
By commemorating World Savings Day, the Macedonian Banking Association and the Deposit Insurance Fund once again reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening the trust in the financial system and promoting a culture of saving in the country – as a foundation for a better future and a more prosperous society.
